SPENCE CARSON
CEO, Founder
Spence formed Oso in 2020, along with co-founders Brian Sullivan, Andrew Blaney, and Braydn Johnson. Spence brings over 37 years of experience in the energy industry and 27 years of experience as an energy entrepreneur. Prior to Oso, Spence co-founded Southstar Exploration, LLC in 2002. Southstar developed multiple projects across southern Oklahoma, acquiring more than 250 square miles of 3D seismic, drilling more than 50 wells, with individual field discoveries greater than 1,000,000 barrels of oil. Spence has experience as a land consultant, creating land software and as a landman for Alexander Energy Corporation. Spence earned a BA from the University of Oklahoma.
BRIAN SULLIVAN
Vice President of Land, Co-Founder
Brian brings 19 years of project management, land acquisition, and regulatory expertise. Prior to Oso, Brian had a dual role as Land Manager & Asset Manager for Southstar Exploration, LLC. Brian’s responsibilities included investor relations, legal, and corporate administration. Brian secured leases and minerals leading to drilling more than 50 wells across the Mid-Continent. Brian has experience managing thousands of leases, mineral agreements, and operating agreements. Brian earned a degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2001.
ANDREW BLANEY
Vice President of Operations, Co-Founder
Andrew brings 12 years of field operations management, infrastructure management, and operational efficiency expertise. Prior to Oso, Andrew was the Operations Manager for Southstar Exploration LLC. Andrew’s responsibilities included production optimization, managing field personnel, and asset management. Andrew worked in a family business both before and after graduating from Oklahoma State University. Andrew coordinates and supervises all production related field activities for Oso. Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Information Science from Oklahoma State University in 2005.
DOUG JOHNSON
Geoscience Manager
Doug primarily assists in providing technical and strategic solutions. Doug’s career spans over forty years and includes companies of various size ranging from start- up, family-owned private, small to large independent, and major, including Grace Petroleum, Manitou Resources, Lu-Ray Petroleum, Chesapeake Energy, Sandridge Energy and BPX Energy. Doug retired from BPX, a subsidiary of BP, in 2020 where he served as COO Development, a responsibility that included managing five business units including geology, geophysics, land, reservoir engineering, drilling, completions and facilities plus corporate reserves. Doug is adept at managing multi-rig/multi-spread drilling and completion programs in multiple basins to safely and timely meet or exceed performance goals at or below cost. Doug is a geologist by education and has actively worked most North American basins including both vertical and horizontal wells, in multiple reservoir types including carbonate, clastic, shale and coal. Doug has a Bachelor of Science degree from Baylor University in 1981 and a Master of Science degree from The University of Oklahoma.
